Student Activism at Gettysburg

Dean Parker Johnson

was established as the Dean of Intercultural Advancement and chief of the Intercultural Resource center in 1992. He served in multiple capacities and was especially committed to increasing campus dialogue surrounding race. Following an offer from another institution, Johnson decided to leave Gettysburg at the end of February 1996. Students expressed their displeasure beginning in November due to the lack of staff and leadership at the Intercultural Resource Center. He was succeeded one year later, in January of 1997, by Peter Curry. Below is a picture of Johnson (back row, center) and his colleagues.
