Toni Morrison

TIME’s article on Toni Morrison begins by citing her Nobel Prize for literature, awarded in 1993. In 1965, she began a position as an editor at Random House, and published her first novel, The Bluest Eye, in 1970.  Her relentless work in literature has opened spaces for women of color,  particularly black women, to write, publish, and vocalize their experience.
